The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will start the process of registration for KEA PG counselling tentatively in the third week of March.

KEA conducts three rounds of PG counselling (First, Second and Mop up). The First and Second Rounds of Counselling are conducted in online mode while the Mop Up Round is conducted in offline mode (physical counselling).

Candidates who fulfill the below given criteria are eligible to participate in KEA counselling through NEET MDS:

  • Candidate should have qualified in NEET MDS exam
  • Candidate should have completed BDS course from DCI recognized dental college
  • Candidate should have completed or is completing internship on or before 31 March of the year of MDS admission
  • Candidate should have been registered with DCI/State Dental Council
  • The age limit for in-service candidates is 48 years as on 31 March of the year of MDS admission
  • Candidate who has completed his/her undergraduate course from dental college outside India should have qualified in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test). Further such candidate should have been registered with DCI and should have completed or likely to complete internship on or before 31 March of the year of MDS admission
  • In case of a Foreign National, his/her qualification should be duly registered with appropriate registering authority in his/her own country where from he/she has obtained his/her basic dental graduate qualification, and is duly recognized by the corresponding dental council or concerned authority. Further, such candidate should have obtained temporary registration certificate from DCI for the duration of the MDS course 
  • Candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Minority category should have claimed their reservation status in the KEA application

The MDS seats in the State of Karnataka are classified into the following categories:

G – Government Seats

  • 50% of seats in Government dental colleges
  • 33% of seats in Private non-minority dental colleges
  • 20% of seats in Private minority (religious & linguistic) dental colleges
  • 40% of seats in Private university colleges

P – Private Seats

  • 42% of seats in Private non-minority dental colleges
  • 55% of seats in Private minority dental colleges
  • 35% of seats in Private university
N – NRI Seats

  • 15% of seats in Private minority and non-minority dental colleges and Private university 
Q – Other Seats

  • 10% of seats in Private minority and non-minority dental colleges and Private university

Candidates who fulfills the below given criteria are eligible for Government Seats:

  • An Indian citizen who has studied and passed his/her BDS in a recognized dental college in Karnataka, or
  • An Indian citizen who has studied and passed his/her BDS in a recognized dental college located in India and has studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of ten years from Class 1 to Class 12 and must have appeared and passed either 10th or 12th class from the State of Karnataka.

Candidates who fulfill the below given criteria are eligible for Private Seats:

  • Indian citizen who has studied and passed in one or more Govt. or Govt. recognized schools/institutions location in Karnataka State for a minimum period of 10 academic years as on the 31 March of the year of MDS admission, commencing from 1St Std. to 12th Std. and must have appeared and passed either 10th or 12th Std. examination from the State of Karnataka and passed BDS in Karnataka
  • Indian citizen who has studied for a minimum period of 10 academic years commencing from 1st std. to 12th std. and must have appeared and passed either 10th or 12th std. examination from the State of Karnataka and passed BDS from outside the Karnataka State
  • Indian citizen who has studied and passed BDS in a recognized dental college in India

All NRI / NRI wards / PIO / OCI / Foreign Nationals including Children of NRI or their wards who have obtained their BDS degree from a dental college recognized by DCI are eligible for NRI Seats in Private dental colleges in Karnataka.

All candidates, except for NRI / PIO / OCI and Foreign Nationals, who have qualified in NEET MDS and studied BDS in a dental college affiliated to any University established by the Law in India recognized by DCI are eligible for OTHERS seats in Private dental colleges in Karnataka.

The online registration process for KEA counselling through NEET MDS includes following steps:

  • Creation of Profile with a Unique Login ID and Password
  • Entry of personal and academic details including Clause, Category, Reservation, Educational qualifications, In-service details, etc.
  • Uploading of Photograph, Signature and Left Thumb Impression
  • Payment of Registration Fee
  • Submission of Final Application
  • Taking a Printout of the Final Submitted KEA Application

The registration fee for KEA PG counselling is Rs. 500 for candidates belonging to SC/ST/Cat-1/PWD; Rs.1000 for General/2A/2B/3A/3B candidates and Rs. 5000 for NRI/OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals. The fee can be paid through payment gateway provided using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/Challan.

The Document Verification process includes following Stages:

KEA Verification Acknowledgement Slip will be given to all the candidates after successful verification of documents. This verification Acknowledgement Slip indicates the list of documents verified, Candidate’s Name, CET No., NEET Roll No., NEET Rank, NEET Score, Eligible Clause, Reservation Status, Application No. and Secret Key. The Secret Key is unique to every candidate and it should be kept confidential, as it will be required to Login to the Option Entry Portal on KEA Website.

  • BDS Degree Certificate (Provisional Degree Certificate / Pass / Completion Certificate will be accepted only for candidates who have passed BDS in previous year)
  • Internship Completion Certificate (Provisional Internship Certificate will be considered only for candidates who will be completing internship by 31 March of the year of MDS admission only for first round of Counselling)
  • State/Dental Council of India Registration Certificate (Provisional Registration Certificate will be accepted only for document verification for candidates who have passed BDS in previous year)
  • Certificate from Head of the Institution certifying that the dental college from which the candidate has passed is DCI recognized
  • Eligibility Certificate issued by RGUHS for graduates who have completed BDS from Universities other than RGUHS 
  • Migration Certificate if BDS done from University other than  RGUHS (to be submitted at the admitted dental college)
  • Compulsory Govt. Service bond on Rs. 100 Stamp Paper and Undertaking for 3 years service on Rs. 200 Stamp Paper duly notarized in prescribed format
  • FMGE Screening Test Pass Certificate, DCI registration certificate and Internship Completion Certificate for Candidates who have obtained primary dental qualification from dental college outside India
  • General Undertaking on Rs. 20 Stamp Paper in prescribed format
  • Certificate issued by the competent authority claiming reservation under HK region
  • Caste/Caste Income Certificate issued by the competent authority claiming reservation, if applicable
  • Study Certificate for candidate having studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of 10 academic years from 1st Std.  to 12th Std.  including  either 10th or  12th Std from  the  Head  of  educational  institution located in State of Karnataka countersigned by BEO / DDPI in prescribed format, as applicable

The following documents should be produced by NRI/NRI ward/OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals at the time of document verification:

  • Resident Certificate of candidate’s parents issued by the Embassy of that country complying with Income Tax Rules OR Any other certificate to prove that they are resident of that country OR Affidavit on Rs. 100 e-stamp paper to that effect
  • Candidate’s VISA / Passport / Resident VISA
  • Citizenship of Candidate
  • Income Tax documents required as per the Income Tax Act 1961
  • If NRI ward then NRI Ward Certificate
  • Screening Test Certificate if Candidate posses undergraduate dental degree from a college/institute outside India
  • Study Certificate of Candidate for having studied class 12th or equivalent outside India
  • For Foreign Nationals: Foreign National’s qualification Registration Certificate by the concerned Dental Council or concerned authority in his/her own country from where he/she has obtained undergraduate dental degree, Temporary Registration Certificate from DCI within one month of securing MDS admission

Physical presence of candidate is mandatory for KEA document verification. No authorized representatives will be entertained under any circumstances.

Candidates should attend document verification as per their NEET MDS rank on the notified date and time. No document verification and issue of KEA Verification Slip (User ID and Secret Key) will be done other than the allotted date and time for candidate’s rank. Absence of candidate on the notified day will mean that the candidate has forfeited his/her rights to participate in KEA PG counselling and seat allotment process.

Candidates who have been allotted MDS seat and joined a college under AIQ counselling and therefore cannot produce their original documents during KEA document verification can produce the copy of Seat Allotment Letter along with acknowledgement of the original documents being deposited at the AIQ allotted college issued by the Principal of the admitted college. Such candidate should submit a Demand Draft of Rs. 10,000 in the name of Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, payable at Bangalore as security amount during document verification process along with an undertaking. Exemption from submission of original documents shall only be given for the documents deposited with the AIQ allotted medical college. For all other documents not deposited with the AIQ allotted college, original documents have to be produced during KEA document verification process.

Candidates who register online for KEA counselling, successfully complete document verification and receive KEA verification slip are eligible to participate in the first round of KEA counselling through NEET MDS.

Candidates who could not register for KEA counselling or registered but could not attend KEA document verification are not eligible to participate in the first round of KEA counselling through NEET MDS.

Candidates should follow the below given instructions for entry of options:

  • Before entering the options for MDS course and subject, candidates should note that each college would have four different categories (G, P, N and Q). Each category has separate fee structure
  • The college code ending with “DG” indicates Government Seats in Government dental colleges and Govt. quota seats in Private dental colleges;  the college code ending with  “DP” indicates Private Seats; the college code ending with “DN” indicates NRI Seats and the college ending with “DQ” indicates Other Seats
  • Candidate should login to KEA option entry portal by submitting required information. Upon entry of preliminary information, the option entry form will be displayed
  • The option entry form contains priority order number, discipline, college name, college code and the subject code. 
  • Candidate should give the priority order number from among the list of colleges and courses.
  • Candidate should enter the course/college of his/her choice from among the seats available or may enter all the options in the discipline to which he/she is eligible
  • Once the options are entered, candidate should take printout of the options entered for further references
