Candidates who fulfil the below given criteria are eligible to participate in the Maharashtra State counselling process:
  • Candidate should be an Indian National. However, NRI will be eligible only on All India basis in Private Medical Colleges in Maharashtra under NRI Quota.
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Candidates are eligible for Government/Corporation / Government Aided/Private Medical colleges provided they have passed 10th & 12th from the State of Maharashtra and should be domicile of Maharashtra or staying in state of Maharashtra for minimum period of 10 years
  • Candidates must be Domicile of Maharashtra, except for NRI, Children of employees of the Government of Maharashtra
  • Candidates must be medically fit and must submit a certificate of medical fitness at the time of Document Verification
  • Candidate must have passed the SSC or equivalent examination from an Institution situated in the state of Maharashtra. Exception for SSC (10th) or equivalent examinations for Children of employees of the Government of Maharashtra or its Undertaking
  • Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination i.e. Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC/12th Standard) or equivalent examination from an Institution situated in the State of Maharashtra. Exception for HSC (12th) or equivalent examinations for Children of employees of the Government of Maharashtra or its Undertaking
  • Candidates must be qualified in NEET UG exam

The step-by-step procedure for online registration for Maharashtra State counselling process is as follows:
  1. Visit the official website www.mahacet.org
  2. Click on Application Link
  3. Instruction page will be displayed. Read the instructions and Click on NEXT button
  4. Candidate should fill all the entries in the application form
  5. System will validate required fields before allowing the candidate to submit the form
  6. Submit the Declaration
  7. During submission the system will ask “Password” to the candidate
  8. Submit the Application
  9. Pay the Application Fee and take a Print Out of Online Fee Payment
  10. After successful online payment, Candidate has to upload required documents
  11. Take a Print Out of the Application Form

During Online Registration, candidates should select any one centre for Physical Document Verification during. The list of centres will be declared at a later stage. Candidates should report personally at the centre selected during Online Registration as per the rank-wise schedule, which will be declared after Online Registration.

  • For Person with disability (PWD) Candidates - Medical Fitness Certificate of Authorized Medical Board, if applicable

The documents required in support of Religions Minority Status of the candidate are:

Candidate belonging to Muslim/Christian/Jain minority

  • The Candidate belonging to Muslim/Christian/Jain minority have to produce School Leaving Certificate stating that Candidate belongs to Muslim/Christian/Jain minority, and/or 
  • Certificate from Religious place that Candidate belongs to Muslim/Christian/Jain minority
  • Affidavit stating that Candidate belong to Muslim/Christian/Jain minority

Candidate belonging to Sindhi/Gujrathi minority

  • The Candidate belonging to Sindhi/Gujrathi minority have to produce School Leaving Certificate stating that Candidate belongs to Sindhi/Gujrathi minority and/or
  • Affidavit stating that Candidate belongs to Sindhi/Gujrathi Minority

Candidate belonging to Hindi Linguistic minority

  • The Candidate belonging to Hindi Linguistic minority should produce School/College Leaving Certificate stating the candidate mother tongue in Hindi or the Certificate of Head Master/Principal certifying that his/her mother tongue is Hindi And
  • Affidavit of Candidate/Parents stating that Canddiate belongs to Hindi Linguistic Minority

MBBS admission in Maharashtra course will be done online by way of filling of the Online Preference Form. The candidate should login to his/her account and proceed to filling of the Online Preference Form. The candidate can fill Online Preference Form multiple times before clicking Submit Button. Once Submit Button is clicked, there is no provision to change the Preference.

  • Candidates who do not participate in Document Verification process

The candidate who is selected in the first round or subsequent round of selection process but does not join the allotted college or cancels the MBBS admission after joining then it will be presumed that such candidate is not interested in the MBBS admission process and for all further process including mop up round and will not be considered for allotment of seat.

The candidate getting selected in the first round of selection will be considered for betterment in the subsequent round of selection process. The Shift in such betterment is mandatory except for those who have filled ‘Status Retention Form’. Candidates who have filled ‘Status Retention Form’ will not be considered for any subsequent rounds of selection process.

In case if a candidate to whom MBBS seat has been allotted in the first round of selection process and who has joined the medical college accordingly, is satisfied with the allotted medical college, such a candidate should submit a ‘Status Retention Form’ in prescribed format on or before the notified date with the Dean of the allotted medical college. Upon receipt of Status Retention Form, an acknowledgement in writing will be issued to the candidate by the Officer appointed by the Dean of the college. The names of the candidates who have submitted Status Retention Form within notified date and time will not be considered for the remaining MBBS admission process.

If the seats remain vacant in Private medical colleges in Maharashtra after mop up round then the seats shall be filled by the medical colleges through Institution Level Round with the prior approval of the competent authority. The Dean or Principal of the medical colleges shall conduct MBBS admission process for these vacant seats on the basis of merit from the list of eligible candidates as per the directions issued by the competent authority.

Candidates who take MBBS admission in the Government medical colleges in Maharashtra either through the Government of India Nominee, All India Quota or through NEET will be required to sign a bond to serve the Government of Maharashtra or Local Self-Government or Defence Services for a period of One Year after the completion of Internship, failing which he/she will be required to pay a non-refundable penalty of Rs. 10 Lakhs. Additionally, candidates will be required to sign an undertaking to the effect that he/she will not leave India within a period of Five Years from the date of obtaining the MBBS degree, otherwise he/she will have to pay Non Refundable penalty of Rs. 10 Lakhs.

Candidate taking MBBS admission in Private Medical Colleges in Maharashtra by availing reimbursement / Scholarship from the Government will have to do one year bond service as Medical officer in rural difficult and tribal area of Maharashtra, failing which he/she will have to pay Non Refundable penalty of Rs. 10 Lakhs. However, candidates who are not availing reimbursement of fees / Scholarship, the said bond service is not applicable.
