The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination dates for undergraduate medical admissions has not been announced this year. While speculations for conducting exams twice a year has been doing the rounds, senior officials from health, education ministry as well as National Testing Agency are meeting on January 25 - Monday to discuss about the modalities of exam this year. There are chances of discussion about conducting the exam twice a year and conducting NEET 2021 online.
The main agenda behind the meeting on Monday is to check the possibility of conducting NEET medical exam on a computer based platform just like other exams in the country. There are chances of conducting the exams online after checking the modalities With the National Testing Agency (NTA). The final decision would come from the Health Ministry. While launching of NTA, many students had protested against online mode of examination but with the efficient usage of online mode of education, many students have showed interest towards online mode of examination.
After recent events of conducting JEE Main four times a year, many students have asked to conduct NEET more than one time. NEET exam is one of the largest competitive exam in the world and as many as 16 Lakh students appear for it every year. Student’s view on this is there are possibilities for a student not to appear in the exam on the specified date because of a number of reasons. In this way, many students can be helped if exams are conducted more than once. Experts have also asked to conduct NEET multiple times more so because of the resultants of COVID-19 this year.
