Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College has been established in the year 1981 by Anandaa Social and Education Trust. The emblem of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Medical College is a symbolic expression of compassion and sacred service to be adopted for the practice of modern medicine.

The annual intake of students for the MBBS course is 100 and is recognized by Medical Council of India, New Delhi and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. The duration of the course is 4.5 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship. As per the new regulations of Medical Council of India (MCI) the MBBS course has been divided into 3 phases.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria & Admission:

For admission to MBBS Course at Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College Bangalore, affiliated to RGUHS Bangalore, candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.

The candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks in the PCB group (40% in the case of SC / ST candidates).
The candidate must have passed in English as a compulsory subject.
The candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before the year of MBBS admission.

MBBS Entrance Exam:

Candidates seeking MBBS Admission at Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College Bangalore must qualify in NEET UG (National Eligibility Entrance Test).NEET Qualified candidates must participate in MBBS Admission counseling conducted by KEA in the order of merit to secure a MBBS seat.

Based on the availability, allotment of MBBS seats for candidates takes place.

MD/MS/Diploma Eligibility Criteria & Admission:

For admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma Course at Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College Bangalore, affiliated to RGUHS Bangalore, candidates must have obtained MBBS degree from MCI recognized institution.

Hostels:

The college runs hostels for the men and women students separately within the campus at Kadugondanahalli. The hostel buildings with spacious rooms, lounges, recreation room having color television sets in each of the hostels, with all other modern amenities, are built to ensure comfortable stay of the inmates, and a proper atmosphere for study. The women students’ hostel, with a view to ensure absolute safety of the inmates, is fenced properly and secured.

Sports & Cultural Activities:

Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Medical College lays great emphasis on the all round development of the student. Skill laboratories

Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College has established various well-equipped and sophisticated skills laboratories that enable students to experience the practical side of medical training. The striking laboratories contain a good number of manikins also known as virtual patients on which students learn and practice their surgical skills. This form of interactive surgical training provides students with a hands-on opportunity to develop and improve their clinical skills and practice procedures like CPR, minor surgeries, major surgeries, catheterization, intramuscular injection, suture procedure, etc. This stimulated safe environment allows the students to make mistakes in their learning stage which further results in a decrease of errors in the future. The main reason why Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College incorporated these laboratories on its campus was to give students a space to make mistakes without worrying about the consequences and risks. Hostels

BR Ambedkar Medical College offers luxurious accommodation facilities to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Separate hostel blocks have been established for both boys and girls at the campus at Kadugondanahalli. These hostels contain spacious, well-ventilated, and adequately furnished residencies that consist of a bed, study table, chair, cupboard, etc. The hostel premises also have various recreational spaces and common facilities such as a television room, a common room with amenities for several indoor games and dining halls. There are also reading rooms available at these hostels that hold a rich number of books, magazines, newspapers, and periodicals. All the hostel blocks are secured and have security cameras on each floor to ensure safety. A resident-warden is present at all times at the grounds to maintain discipline and make sure that decorum is maintained by the residents. Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College believes that in order to function efficiently one must take care of their mental and physical well-being.
