About Army College of Medical Sciences Date: 17-06-2021

The Army Welfare Education Society established the Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS). The institution was set up to offer top-quality medical education to the children of the Indian Army personnel. Children of both retired and serving army employees are offered the best medical education by ACMS. The medical college was established in 2008. 

The former defense minister, Shri George Fernandes laid the foundation stone of the institution. Students of ACMS have been accomplishing well in various university-level examinations. They also excel in extracurricular activities such as sports and cultural events. 

 

Affiliation and Recognition

The Army College of Medical Sciences New Delhi is affiliated with Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi. ACMS is also recognized by the National Medical Commission. 

 

Ranking

The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has graded Army College of Medical Science New Delhi with an ‘A’ accreditation. According to the 2020 edition of India Today, ACMS is among the top 25 medical colleges in India.

 

Courses offered

Army Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi offers UG-level degree to aspiring medical students. There are various departments set up across clinical, pre-clinical, and para-clinical fields within the college.

Undergraduate Medical Course

The Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is offered at the UG level. This course is conducted for a duration of 4.5 years. After 4.5 years of curriculum, students need to pursue one year of mandatory internship in order to complete the course. The ACMS MBBS fees is very reasonable for the quality of education offered.

 

Admission Process

MBBS Admission Process:

The Army College of Medical Sciences Course Admission process requires students to qualify under certain criteria in order to be eligible. These criteria are as follows;

  • Candidates must be of a minimum age of 17 by 31st December of the respective year of MBBS admission.
  • Candidates must have passed 12th standard with 60% or above (for general and OBC category) in the subjects Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English from a recognized board. SC and ST category candidates need to secure a minimum of 50%. 
  • Candidates need to have secured the minimum qualifying score in the NEET UG exam.
  • The students who qualify in the NEET UG exam should attend the centralized counselling process conducted by the MCC and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. 

 

Teaching Hospital

The teaching hospital associated with ACMS New Delhi is the Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt. The hospital is situated very close to the medical college campus. All clinical departments provide students with practical training at this hospital. The hospital consists of various specialties and is facilitated with all modern equipment. The faculty and residents at the hospital teach students to use all the medical equipment accurately. The hospital is capable of managing and accommodating a good patient load.  

 

Faculty

The faculty at Army Medical College New Delhi is made up of efficient medical pioneers with an army background. Each member holds vast knowledge of their branch of specialty. Along with delivering lectures, the faculty also conducts various workshops and seminars on subject matters. Some of the faculty members have also accomplished various titles and recognitions. Some are also members of elite organizations such as the Journal of Medical Academics (JOMA). The faculty of clinical departments hold efficient skills to train students to perform medical procedures. Various research activities are also undertaken by the faculty members at ACMS. 

 

Infrastructure & Facilities

The Army College of Medical Sciences is made of spacious and modern infrastructure. The campus is serene and visually pleasing. All necessary facilities for students are arranged within the campus itself.  The library is large and is stacked with all study resources such as books, journals, magazines, etc. There are also fully equipped laboratories for the practical courses of study. Separate hostel units are provided for boys and girls. The hostels are located within a walking distance of 200 meters from the campus. The rooms are fully furnished and also have attached bathrooms and balconies. All basic amenities and leisure facilities are offered to students at the hostels. The college campus is also facilitated with a well-equipped gymnasium for students.

Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS) New Delhi offers top-quality medical education with the best facilities to children of Army professionals. The infrastructure of the college is very modern and is facilitated with the latest technology. The campus also has a serene atmosphere to offer students a calming ambiance.

All academic facilities such as libraries, laboratories, etc are provided by ACMS. Various academic events are also conducted by the college for students’ exposure. Accommodation for the students is arranged by the college as well. A number of extracurricular facilities such as for sports and cultural events are also provided on the campus. 

 

Auditorium

The auditorium at Army College of Medical Science New Delhi is the venue for various academic events such as workshops and conferences. The auditorium is facilitated with good lighting and comfortable seats. It is equipped with all audio-visual aids such as microphones, speakers, projectors, etc.

 

Library & Counselling Facilities

The library at Army College of Medical Sciences New Delhi provides students with all the necessary resources for their studies. A large number of textbooks, reference books, etc are available at the library. The books are properly segregated and divided into different sections. The library has a vast collection of magazines, journals, and other study material as well. The reading areas of the library have tables and chairs to accommodate students.  
A counselling facility is offered at ACMS to help students cope with stress and other issues. A certified counsellor is available for students to approach at any time. 

 

Hostel

Army College of Medical Science New Delhi requires all its students to mandatorily reside at the college hostel. The hostel structure is built within close proximity of the college campus. It is only 200 meters away from the campus. Separate hostel units are allocated for girls and boys. The hostel complex is fully secured within a boundary wall. There is also a guard placed at the gate of the compound for additional security. The rooms are all well furnished with beds, tables, chairs, cupboards, etc. Each room has a washroom as well as a balcony attached to it. 
Each hostel units have reading rooms with air conditioning. Study tables and wi-fi facility is offered within the reading rooms. A cybercafe with a wi-fi facility is also available at the hostel.  Basic amenities such as drinking water coolers, water purifiers, washing machines, pantries are provided at the hostels. For food requirements, students can use the cafeteria and dining hall at the complex. The hostel also offers leisure facilities such as indoor and outdoor games, a gymnasium, etc. TV room facility is also arranged in each hostel. Guest rooms can be used by parents and examiners on their visits. 

 

Sports & Gymnasium

Army College of Medical Science New Delhi prioritizes helping its students to maintain a physically fit lifestyle. For this matter, various sports facilities are offered to students. Outdoor games facilities are provided for basketball, volleyball, etc. The facilities offered for indoor games include carrom, table tennis, badminton, chess, etc. During sports week, athletic events are organized as well for students to take part in. Inter-college sports & cultural festivals such as ‘AURA’ allow students to participate in the sport of their choice and compete with one another.
A gymnasium is also built into the ACMS campus. The gym consists of various fitness equipment such as treadmills, dumbbells, etc. Students can use their leisure time at the gym to train their physique.   

 

Cultural Activities

The various cultural events organized by the Army Medical College New Delhi offer students an opportunity to show off their talents. Festivals such as AURA and youth festivals host competitions for events such as dance, music, skits, etc. Freshers day and Annual day celebrations also offer a chance for students to relax and participate in various cultural events.
