Facilities at Sapthagiri Medical College Date: 26-04-2021

Sapthagiri Medical College Bangalore (SIMS) is among the top medical colleges in Karnataka. Students from all over India aim to pursue a medical course at Sapthagiri Medical College. The college aims to make top-quality healthcare available in India. In order to achieve this, it ensures to provide world-class facilities for the students on the campus.

The college has all the academic support at the campus so that the students don’t lack any study resources. It has also provided additional amenities to offer the students a comfortable ambiance. Extra-curricular facilities are also offered.

Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences Facilities

Library

The central library at Sapthagiri Medical College is large, taking up an area of 2400 sq. m. There are separate reading rooms allocated for UG and PG students. In total there 6 reading rooms present. The seating capacity of the reading rooms ranges from 50 to 430. The library is kept open from 8 am to 9 pm. The library is well-stocked with a total of 11,070 books. Out of this 4210 is for text material and 6860 for reference. Apart from books, the library also has about 108 journal subscriptions that include both national and foreign publications. Additional amenities such as internet, medlar, TV, xerox, microfilm reading, etc. are also present. The entire complex is air-conditioned.

Lecture halls

There are a total number of 4 lecture halls present at Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences. The lecture halls have a capacity to hold about 180 students. All the lecture halls are facilitated with air-conditioning.

There are also audio-visual aids such as LCD and OHP. There is also a separate examination hall built with a capacity to hold 250 students. It has all amenities such as internet, CCTV, and toilets. In case students need to relax, there are separate common rooms available for girls and boys. These common rooms come with an attached toilet.

Laboratories

Each clinical department at Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre has a number of laboratories associated with it. Each lab is equipped with the latest version of the medical equipment of each branch. Some of the equipment are urine analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges, ESR analyzers, autoclaves, etc. There are skilled teaching staff present in each lab to guide the students. There also non-teaching faculty present for support.

Hostel & Mess

At Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences Bangalore, there are separate hostels built for men and women. The hostels can hold about 342 UG male students and 224 female students. There are additional rooms available for interns and PG students. All the hostel rooms are fully furnished with chairs, tables, cots, etc. Toilet facility is conveniently available to the hostel residents. The hostels are situated within the campus for easy access to the students. A faculty member is allocated as a warden for each hostel to maintain discipline within the complex. A separate kitchen facility is available to the students at the hostels. Hostels are also facilitated with a 24*7 water supply. A hot water facility is also provided. The complex has a generator backing up the power supply at all times. Some leisurely facilities are also offered to the students such as table tennis, badminton, and library. Transport facilities are also made available for the hostel residents in case of need.

All hostels are arranged with mess facilities that serve healthy and nutritious food. Apart from this, there is also a canteen present. The canteen can accommodate 60 students at a time. Hygiene is maintained by the canteen kitchen at all times. Meals and snacks are priced affordably.

Sports

The value of extra-curricular activities is not ignored at Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Science & Research Center. SIMS ensures to offer the students a well-balanced atmosphere while offering sports facilities. Both indoor and outdoor sports facilities are available on the campus. The outdoor sports options are volleyball and basketball. The indoor game options provided are table tennis, carrom, and chess. Apart from this, to help students remain physically fit, a gymnasium is also offered. The gym is fully facilitated with functional equipment. The equipment offered are treadmills, bars, weightlifting, dumbbells, etc. The sports department comprises structured management as well.
