Institute of National Importance Common Entrance Test (INI-CET) is a Combined Entrance Test for PG medical admission at Institutes of National Importance (INI) namely, AIIMS-New Delhi and other AIIMS Institutes, JIPMER-Puducherry, PGIMER Chandigarh, NIMHANS-Bengaluru.

Eligibility Criteria

For Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizen of India

1. A candidate must possess an MBBS degree for MD/MS/DM-6yrs/MCH-6yrs of a University recognized by the National Medical Commission (erstwhile Medical Council of India) and BDS degree for MDS courses of a University recognized by the Dental Council of India and must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotating Internship/Practical training. A candidate may be eligible for admission into any INIs or only at some specific INI depending upon fulfillment of eligibility criteria applicable to respective INIs.

2. The Indian National who has obtained an eligibility degree in India, must have obtained a minimum of the following marks (aggregate of all professional MBBS/BDS professional examinations):
  a) For candidates belonging to the SC/ST Categories - 50% marks in aggregate.
  b) For all other categories including OBC/EWS Category - 55% marks in aggregate.
  c) For Persons with Benchmark Disabilities [PWBD] Category - 50% marks in aggregate. 

Sponsored Candidates: The eligibility of Sponsored Candidates with respect to the minimum aggregate marks in all the MBBS/BDS professional examinations will be the same as it is for Indian National candidates.

Indian National candidates who have graduated from Foreign Universities: Marks obtained in the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) shall be considered in lieu of aggregate marks. The eligibility criteria of minimum marks shall remain the same as for Indian Nationals.

For Foreign National candidates

Foreign National Candidates are required to obtain a certificate of grading system from applicable University/ Institution to determine the value of grading in percentage. The eligibility of Foreign National applicants with respect to the minimum marks in aggregate in all the MBBS/BDS professional examinations will be 55% aggregate or equivalent. The No Objection Certificate (NOC) obtained from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, should be submitted to the Examination Section on or before the due date. 

Application Procedure

Candidates desirous of appearing in INI-CET are required to apply through online mode only. The steps involved in the online application are as follows:

Basic registration: Candidates are required to do the basic registration with necessary personal information and uploading of images. The applicants whose basic registration has been earlier accepted for the previous postgraduate examination conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi, are NOT required to register again.

Generation of Registration Unique Code (RUC): A unique registration code is required to be generated to indicate the applicant’s desire to apply for INI-CET. The code is specific and is to be generated only after successful Basic Registration.

Final Registration: A valid Registration ID, Password, and Code (RUC) is required to be able to log in for completion of the final registration process. The applicant must ensure that all the steps of the application form are completed on or before the due date and time.

Counselling Overview

There shall be common counselling for PG medical admissions into INIs through online mode. 

The seat allocation process will be conducted in two rounds followed by an open round. Additional rounds shall be conducted if required based on the availability of seats. Candidates up to 8 times the number of available seats will be called for the first two rounds of counselling. The seat allocation will be done in order of merit, choices made by the candidate and as per the reservation policies of individual INIs with regards to Institutional Preference, Community reservation (OBC, SC, ST, EWS etc.) and PwBD as applicable, through a process of Institute-wise Synchronization of Seat Allocation (InSAS). The remaining vacant seats after the Open Round will be filled up in the Spot Round by respective institutes in offline mode.
